Dr. Noor Hisham dedicates ‘Tan Sri’ title to Covid-19 frontliners

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 17): Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah dedicated the Tan Sri title to all the frontliners fighting the Covid-19 pandemic in social media.

Shortly after being awarded the Tan Sri title by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah in conjunction with the majesty’s birthday this morning, Noor Hisham paid tribute to the frontliners and the behind-the-scene personnel at the Health Ministry.

“Alhamdulillah, this title and degree of greatness is a tribute to all the frontline officers and [those] behind the scenes of the Health Ministry.

“It is also the symbol of faith and government appreciation to civil servants,” he wrote on Facebook.

He also hoped that the appreciation given to the officers will boost their spirit to continue carrying out their task for the health of the people and the safety of the country.

Noor Hisham’s Facebook post, which was posted about an hour ago, has garnered thousands of congratulatory comments from well-wishers.

Noor Hisham was one of the 12 who received the Tan Sri today. Among them are: Court of Appeal president Rohana Yusuf; Public Services Department director-general Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman; Army chief General Zamrose Mohd Zain; Air Force chief General Ackbal Abdul Samad; former deputy inspector-general of police Mazlan Mansor; Olympic Council of Malaysia president Mohamad Norza Zakaria; and Petronas chairman Ahmad Nizam Salleh.

Four businessmen were also awarded the PSM: Lotus Corporation Bhd chief executive R Doraisingam; Sunway Group president Chew Chee Kin; Platinum Victory Holdings managing director Gan Yu Chai; and Sena Group and Optimax founder Tan Boon Hock.
