Overview

The sprawling city of Shah Alam is one of the major cities in Klang Valley, and is the capital city of Selangor. Named after Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, the then Sultan of Selangor, Shah Alam was the first planned city in Malaysia after our independence in 1957.

Located about 25 kilometres west of the city centre of Kuala Lumpur, this rapidly growing city is situated within the districts of Petaling and Klang, bordered by other urban cities - Subang Jaya and Petaling Jaya - and connected with various major highways and public transportation, making it one of the hot residency spots for the majority of city dwellers.

Accessibility and Transportation

Known as the city of roundabouts by the locals, it has over 18 roundabouts that connect the entire network of the city. Shah Alam can be accessed by major highways including the Federal Highway, Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS), Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE), New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE) and Kemuning – Shah Alam Highway (LKSA). These highways connect Shah Alam to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport.

For a cheaper and more convenient alternative, Shah Alam is also connected by the Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) that stops in Shah Alam station in Section 19, and Batu Tiga station in Section 13. There is also a bus and taxi stand in Section 17 with car rental services.  There are plenty of buses and taxis in Shah Alam’s commercial areas.

The strategic location and ease of public transportation contribute to the high demand for Shah Alam’s properties, as people are always looking for houses for sale or apartments for rent in the area.

Amenities and Facilities

Shah Alam is also known for its natural beauty, as the city is surrounded by lush landscape and natural lakes – balancing nature with urbanisation.
