Setia ‘Live Out Loud’ Concert brought 6,000 Malaysians together

SEMENYIH (Sept 9): Setia EcoHill Walk burst to life when a crowd of 6,000 turned up to celebrate in songs and music with five well-known Malaysian artistes in the Setia “Live Out Loud” concert on Sept 3.

The concert was organised by S P Setia Bhd in conjunction with the opening of its Setia EcoHill Mall, the retail component of Setia EcoHill Walk, which will be officially launched on Sept 15.

Under clear night skies in a large open site next to the mall, the free concert brought together Malaysians from all races and all walks of life, who sang, swayed and even danced together to their favourite numbers.

Multi-lingual emcees Baki Zainal and Caely See greeted the audience at 8.30pm before the stage was set on a roll with a riveting drum and percussion performance by Malaysian performing arts group Hands Percussion.

The first song that rang out that night was “Amalina”, belted out by Santesh, who has garnered more than 37.078 million views on YouTube with this hit song, followed by two heart-thumping choruses, “Shocked” and “Jiwang”.

Next, Priscilla Abby moved the crowd to a sea of swaying lights with her covers of Mandarin hits “Gulf of Alaska” and “Birds and Cicadas”, before bowing out with the first live performance of her self-written “Don't Make Me Like You Too Much”.

Taking the stage next was one of Malaysia’s top Malay young singers Hael Husaini, who uplifted the audience with beats of “Hati”, “Medley”, “Kelentang Kelentong” and “Sama Seperti Dulu”.

A special appearance of pop group The15 brought the crowd, including the VIPs, up and dancing with a few well-known covers, performed along with energetic dance moves.

Making a special return to Malaysia from his base in Taiwan, Nicholas Teo delighted the fan-full crowd with his timeless signature songs “Prince”, “There’s No If”, a medley of “Loneliness” and “Mistake After Mistake”, “Who Will You Think of” and the evergreen “Tears from Polaris”.

Datuk Zainalabidin, at 63, showed he could still rock and tickle the audience with his banter as he closed the concert with his all-time favourite hits “Senang Senang”, “Damai IV”, “Debu Liar”, “Telaga”, “Manis”, “Khayalan”, “Hijau” and “Ikhlas Tapi Jauh”.

The artistes were backed by composer and musician Mac Chew, pianist Jenny Chin, percussionist Steve Thornton and guitarist Shamril.

A finale of fireworks brought the night to a close with a bang.
