PETALING JAYA (March 29): Malaysia Grand Bazaar (MGB) which is Kuala Lumpur’s first artisanal mall and part of Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) urban regeneration project will open its doors on March 31, 2022.
With 100,000 sq ft, the artisanal mall has been developed to pay homage to Malaysian creators and crafters. The mall has been carefully curated with heritage architecture and is able to house up to 100 artisanal brands.
BBCC Development Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Low Thiam Chin said: “MGB is developed to provide a dedicated platform for artisans, micro-brands, start-ups and art entrepreneurs to scale their businesses into the physical retailing space.”
MGB will also have a 4,000 sq ft double volume centre court where it will host regular thematic events, cultural performances and community activities to create constant engagement and experiential retailing focus for its visitors.
“We have strived to curate a collection of authentic Made in Malaysia brands and products that will give visitors a fresh appreciation for the creativity, originality and entrepreneurship of Malaysian small businesses,” said Low.
Besides being located next to the newly opened LaLaport Mall, MGB is also neighbour to Zepp KL, a 2,500-capacity concert hall by Sony Music Entertainment Japan and the 12-screen Golden Screen Cinemas, thus ensuring a healthy footfall for this new artsy attraction in town.
In spite of being located in the city centre, merchants of MGB will be able to have their own branded store in a prime location with affordable rents, fully fitted lots and marketing support.
“Our vision is to become the incubator for local brands to reach out to a larger customer base by having a presence in a prime location which can attract both locals and tourists,” Low added.
BBCC is a joint venture between UDA Holdings Berhad, Eco World Development Group Berhad and the Employees Provident Fund Board.
The BBCC project will be developed in three phases with the first phase comprising of stratified office The Stride, Lucentia Residences, Mitsui LaLaport and BBCC Entertainment Hub, which houses MGB.
