KUALA LUMPUR (July 22): Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 vaccine doses administered climbed 49% to 446,052 yesterday (July 21) from 299,593 the day before.
Of this, 282,980 jabs were given as the first dose, while 163,072 people received their second dose, according to the latest tweet by the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).
Selangor recorded the highest number of first doses given yesterday at 89,183, followed by Kuala Lumpur (47,866) and Johor (35,145).
As for those who were fully inoculated by getting their second dose yesterday, Sarawak led the country with 42,436, followed by Selangor (37,997) and Kuala Lumpur (31,339).
Cumulatively, 15.52 million doses had been administered in the country. A total of 10.585 million people or 32.34% of the nation's population had gotten at least their first dose, while 4.933 million or 15.07% had been fully inoculated.
Malaysia’s new Covid-19 cases fell slightly to 11,985 yesterday from 12,366 the day before. This pushed the number of active cases to 137,587, the eighth consecutive day of it staying above the 100,000 mark.
Sadly, 199 more Covid-19 related fatalities were reported — the highest daily number of deaths so far — bringing the country's total death toll to 7,440.
The country’s cumulative confirmed Covid-19 infections increased to 951,884 versus 806,857 total recoveries.
