KUALA LUMPUR (April 26): Cumulative Covid-19 positive infections in the country rose by 4.7% over the two-week period of April 11 to 24 , whereas new cases rose by 26.6% for the same period.
An infographic released by the Ministry of Health (MoH) showed that cumulative positive cases in the country rose from 372,959 to 390,252 over the period.
New cases also jumped from 13,742 to 17,393 for the two-week period.
The cumulative death toll in the country also rose from 1,370 to 1,426, which signified a 4.1% rise.
There were 49 deaths in the first week, which increased to 56 in the second week, signifying a 14.3% increase.
Patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) due to Covid-19 also increased from 205 patients to 246 patients, which was a 20% increase.
Covid-19 positive patients on ventilators also increased by 26.2% from 84 patients to 106 patients.
The positivity or infection rate increased from 3.6% to 3.8%.
The government also reported that testing went up 20.7% from 382,267 cases to 461,332 cases.
The cumulative number of tests in the country also increased from 8.54 million tests to nine million tests, which was a 20.7% increase.
