KUALA LUMPUR (March 5): Xavier Andre Justo (pictured), the Swiss who played a pivotal role in exposing the 1MDB scandal, has left Malaysia with his family for his home country.

The reason for this is because "I couldn't take the risk of making the people I love the most suffer again in case things went wrong", he wrote in his Facebook from Geneva.

"To all our Malaysian friends. With a great sadness and with our hearts broken we had to leave your beautiful country," said Justo.

"We are now back and safe in Switzerland but our hearts and souls are with all of you," he added.

This is not the end. The end will be the day we will surrender and forget our principles, but this will never happen... We are fully convinced that Malaysia will wake up soon with a democratic government duly elected," Justo went on.

Last year, Justo said he wanted to settle down in Malaysia.

Justo was jailed in Thailand back in 2015 for allegedly blackmailing his former employer Petrosaudi about releasing comprising data.

"We would like to thank the people that helped us during this last year in Malaysia and those who made sure we left without problems," he added.
