Replying to former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, 1Malaysia Development Bhd’s (1MDB) former CEO Mohd Hazem Abd Rahman rejected the claim that he committed abuse of power and breach of trust by misappropriating US$250 million from 1MDB
Najib told a Cabinet meeting on March 4, 2015 that the NAD would conduct a probe into 1MDB for any financial irregularity, in addition to the audit undertaken by Deloitte.

This came after the High Court on May 20 dismissed the application by the government to forfeit the money, followed by the prosecution’s move not to appeal against the decision

The judicial review was filed by Save Malaysia, Stop Lynas chairman Tan Bun Teet and two Kuantan residents, namely Ismail Abu Bakar and G Ponusamy, on Nov 8, 2019 as the applicants. They were all represented by lawyers Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram, Dinesh Athinarayanan and Saha Deva.
