CYBERJAYA (Feb 14): Avaland Bhd (KL:AVALAND) broke ground for The Island @Cybersouth, a 40-acre centre green space project within the 417-acre Cybersouth township, Cyberjaya earlier this week.

The Island features a 37-acre waterbody and incorporates extensive green spaces, vertical forests, and the adventure & nature trail, which highlights local biodiversity while promoting sustainable outdoor recreation. It also includes a sunset deck and observation towers.

Approximately 70% of the landscaping consists of climate-resilient, low-maintenance native plants. Eco-friendly features such as energy-efficient lighting, rainwater harvesting, and the use of recycled materials further minimise environmental impact. The project is set for completion this year, according to a press statement.

Meanwhile, there are also some ongoing upgrades in Cybersouth, including improved amenities and infrastructure such as a new main access road, which will benefit over 100,000 residents in the township and nearby areas.

“Key infrastructure upgrades, such as modernising the main access road and introducing promenades along the central spine, have strengthened connectivity throughout the neighbourhood. These improvements have seamlessly integrated the commercial hub, recreational island, key amenities, and residential areas, cultivating a vibrant, interconnected community across 100 acres of placemaking excellence,” said Avaland’s chief operating officer Aw Sei Cheh in the statement.

The developer also plans to launch several developments within Cybersouth this year, including the first phase of the Meria commercial hub and Avalon, a Balinese-inspired landed home project. Together with the fully taken-up Casa Embun development, these projects contribute to an ongoing gross development value of RM1.084 billion.

The company is also expanding its footprint beyond Cybersouth, with RM1.8 billion in project releases for 2024 and RM1.6 billion in key initiatives for 2025. Upcoming projects include the second phases of Alora Residences in USJ and Anja Residences in Bangi, as well as the third Aetas luxury development in Taman Desa.
