Today is the 15th straight day that the number of daily cases in the country stays in the five-digit range.

Selangor — the worst hit state — saw the number of cases decline to 6,508 compared with 8,500 previously.

The country’s total number of administered doses was 16.9 million as of Saturday (July 24).

Selangor recorded the highest number of first doses given yesterday at 89,183, followed by Kuala Lumpur (47,866) and Johor (35,145)

This was the lowest number of daily doses recorded in nine days after over 300,000 to 400,000 shots were delivered previously. The latest seven-day moving average of daily doses fell to 393,097 from 410,947 on Monday. 

This brings the total doses of vaccines administered in Malaysia so far to 14.35 million. A total of 4.53 million individuals nationwide have received their second dose — representing a vaccination rate of 13.85% of the nation’s population of 32.72 million.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement today the conditional registration approval, which was decided during the country’s Drug Control Authority meeting today, requires details on the quality, safety and efficacy of the vaccines to be monitored and evaluated based on updated data from time to time

Selangor reported the highest daily number of Covid-19 vaccine shots for the first dose at 85,771.
