NEW DELHI: UEM Construction Sdn Bhd has signed a deal with India's leading real estate developer Opus Properties Ltd (India) to embark on major infrastructure and building construction projects.
UEM Construction, a wholly-owned subsidiary company of UEM Builders Bhd, had set up a 50-50 joint-venture (JV) company with its Indian partner to carry out various projects in India, said a joint press statement.
"India is a key market for us as it has tremendous growth potential. While UEM Builders would benefit from the association by incorporating the technical and operational expertise into the project," UEM Builders chairman Datuk Abdul Rahim Abu Bakar said at the signing ceremony.
"Opus Properties will contribute much-needed knowledge on the real-estate development front," he said.
The proposed joint-venture company will begin its operations with "Danat-A-Pearl", a gated community encompassing residential, commercial and entertainment facilities near Delhi, sprawling over 500 acres.
"It's a remarkable day for both partners and I am confident that the joint venture will go a long way in achieving our mutual goals," said Opus Properties' chairman Rajesh Khursija.
