Making a significant jump of five spots to  fourth placing in The Edge Top  Property Developers Awards (TPDA) this year is Sunrise Bhd.

“We are very honored to be among the top 10 for the eighth year. This award is very meaningful to us,” said Datuk Allan Lim, executive deputy chairman of Sunrise Bhd.

Up till 2002, Sunrise mainly developed residential products in Mont’Kiara, a period its executive chairman Datuk Tong Kooi Ong termed as Stage 1 of the company’s growth.

The company then moved on to Stage 2 with the development of multiple commercial and residential products mostly in Mont’Kiara, intended to target a bigger market segment.

So far, Sunrise has developed 118 acres in the Mont’Kiara-Dutamas area, with another 71 acres left to develop there.

However, it is ready to venture beyond Mont’Kiara. The company is entering its Stage 3 growth — a five-year strategic plan to move the company into a new phase of growth, with multi-products in multi-locations.

“As Sunrise expands to other geographical areas beyond Mont’Kiara, we will continue to deliver on our value proposition of quality, community lifestyle and service excellence,” assured Lim.

Sunrise has already gotten off to a good start with the launch of the first phase, Tower A of the RM1.2 billion-mixed development Quintet in Richmond, Canada last month. Even before the sales gallery was completed, Tower A was fully sold.

Also in the works is the RM1 billion integrated commercial development in Bukit Jelutong, a joint venture with Sime Darby Bhd and the soon-to-be-launched RM480 million strata title Menara Solaris, situated off Jalan Sultan Ismail in Kuala Lumpur.

Nevertheless, Mont’Kiara remains a core location for the company, assuring the company’s commitment to the development of the area.
