KUALA LUMPUR: UK property developer St James Development is offering one- and two-bedroom apartments at its latest project Emerald Square in Roehampton, southwest London, to international investors ahead of its UK launch.
Emerald Square comprises apartments as well as four-bedroom houses. The launch of the apartments in Kuala Lumpur will be held this weekend at The Westin.
Each unit comes with a fully fitted kitchen. The entrance hall, living room and dining room have wood flooring while the bedrooms come fully carpeted. Most of the apartments have their own balcony or terrace.
“These properties would appeal to young professionals wanting a short commute to work and with Roehampton University at their doorstep. The units will also appeal to international students,” Sean Ellis, chairman of St James, said in a statement.
The Barnes railway station nearby provides direct trains to Clapham Junction in nine minutes, Waterloo in 20 minutes and Canary Wharf in 43 minutes.
Mark Collins, head of residential at CB Richard Ellis (CBRE), said demand from Asian buyers is still strong for London properties.
“We are still seeing strong and consistent demand from Asian buyers looking for attractive buy-to-let investments in London,” he said. “They are looking for properties in areas with strong rental demand and from developers with established and trusted brands.” CBRE is handling the sales and marketing for the project.
“There are a limited number of new-build properties in the vicinity, creating demand for good quality apartments for rental,” added Collins.
St James is a member of the Berkeley Group.
