KUALA LUMPUR: Pan Pacific Hotels Group, a Singapore-listed hotel subsidiary of UOL Group Ltd, wants to expand to more than 10 Chinese cities over the next five years. It currently has a presence three cities but expects demand from travellers to grow rapidly, reports the ShanghaiDaily.Com.

Pan Pacific Hotels runs more than 30 properties under the Pan Pacific and Parkroyal brands all over the globe. It already has two hotels in China and has a management contract for a third. It opened Pan Pacific Xiamen in Fujian Province last August and Pan Pacific Suzhou in Jiangsu Province in January.

"We hope to add about five hotels a year over the next five years to expand our China network," Eric Levy, senior vice-president for growth and development with PPHG, in Shanghai was reported as saying to ShanghaiDaily.Com on May 13. "Shanghai and Beijing are definitely the cities we are most keen to enter while we will also be very interested in tapping the southern and western parts of the country such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Chengdu."

China is one of the most attractive countries for global hoteliers due to rising demand from domestic and overseas travellers, analysts said.
