KUALA LUMPUR: A unique art-inspired retail experience awaits city folks at Solaris Dutamas (pictured), an almost completed integrated development located off Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur by Sunrise Bhd.
The development will weave arts and culture with leisure shopping and dining, said Sunrise in a statement on Tuesday, May 11.
Solaris Dutamas is a 17-acre hub comprising a Grade-A office tower, office suites, shopoffices and serviced apartments that are fully sold, as well as a retail centre. The project, first launched in October 2006, is nearing completion with most of the components already handed over for occupation.
The retail centre, scheduled for opening in 1Q2011, offers a net lettable area of 335,000 sq ft with over 200 retail lots. The development has more than 5,000 carpark bays and is strategically located near federal government offices and prime residential suburbs including Mont’Kiara, Sri Hartamas, Bukit Damansara and Bangsar.
It will feature “one-off retail shops with fresh concepts and unique merchandise. Retailers are encouraged to project their distinct personalities. Fashion is laced with artisan accessories and food is a creative gourmet expression,” said Sunrise.
Visitors will experience art and culture throughout the entire development including the streets (art bazaars and installations) and parks (installations and performances). Facilities include the White Box (an open exhibition gallery) and the Black Box (a 200-seater experimental theatre.) These public access spaces will host activities like art and cultural exhibitions, theatre performances, film screenings, lectures, seminars and workshops, poetry readings and other community-based arts.
Sunrise will be unveiling the details of this retail concept to select retailers at a by-invitation-only launch event later this month.
