KUALA LUMPUR: The long overdue opening of a ramp road leading to the Penchala Link near Mont’Kiara and Desa Sri Hartamas in Kuala Lumpur will finally open this Thursday June 3.
This should be welcome news to residents in the area as the ramp is expected to ease congestion there, especially for traffic going onto Penchala Link and Mont’Kiara from the Sprint Highway and Desa Sri Hartamas.
The ramp was completed on May 30 and Works Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor is expected to officiate its opening to traffic at 3pm on June 3, Sprint Sdn Bhd communications head Bhavani Krishna Iyer told theedgeproperty.com on June 1.
The ramp’s construction took more than eight years due to land disputes, added Bhavani.
Developers in the area had also been concerned that the highway concessionaire may close the existing temporary slip road leading to Jalan Kiara and Penchala Link. However, Bhavani clarified that the temporary slip road would not be closed.
To ease congestion further, Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin had earlier told City & Country, The Edge Malaysia that there are plans for an additional access to Mont’Kiara in the form of a 100-ft wide road from behind Plaza Mont’Kiara, or Jalan Kiara 4, to Segambut Tengah.
The tender process for the construction of the first phase of this alternative road access is currently ongoing and construction is expected to commence sometime this year.
