SINGAPORE (June 2): Frasers Property Australia says construction firm Brookfield Multiplex has been awarded a A$290 million ($290 million) contract to build the DUO in Sydney.

Designed by Foster + Partners, DUO is a mixed residential, commercial and hotel property jointly developed Frasers Centrepoint’s Australian property division and Sekisui House Australia.

"Brookfield Multiplex has extensive experience in the delivery of complex large-scale construction projects which is required for the multi-faceted DUO development,” says regional managing director David Ghannoum.

Sited within the Central Park precinct, DUO is located at the corner of Broadway and Abercrombie Streets Chippendale.

DUO’s residential component, to be located mainly within the eastern tower, will consist of 313 apartments and the corresponding DUO Club amenities. These will include an indoor pool, a Jacuzzi, cardio room, yoga and recreation room, a rooftop terrace and BBQ, residents’ lounge and dining room.

Its adjoining western tower will include a new 297-room hotel, the refurbished The Australian Hotel, retail space on the ground floor, 5,500 sqm of commercial space and a childcare centre.

Completion of DUO is scheduled for early 2018.

Frasers Property Australia says more than 80% of the apartments have been sold, with prices ranging from A$650,000 to A$2 million per unit. The remaining units are priced at A$710,000 each. – theedgemarkets.com
