KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 2): The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) will carry out a thorough investigation into the collapsed pedestrian bridge near the Abdullah Hukum Apartment in Jalan Bangsar here on Wednesday, Bernama reported today.

Chief executive Datuk Ahmad 'Asri Abdul Hamid said in a statement today that CIDB viewed the incident seriously and investigations would be conducted with various parties involved in the project.

"The investigation will include the design, construction quality, construction materials and supervision methods for identifying the causes of the accident," he said.

Yesterday, Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said a special team made up of experts in the construction sector from various agencies will be formed to investigate the collapse.

Fadillah said the experts would be from his ministry, the CIDB, Department of Occupational Safety and Health, and Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

The incident resulted in the death of a Vietnamese worker and injury of five others.
