PAM launches Architecture Exhibition

PETALING JAYA (July 25): The Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) has launched its Architecture Exhibition in conjunction with the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival 2016 (KLAF 2016) and the soft launch of the new PAM centre at Jalan Tandok.

The exhibition will comprise a graphic design exhibition and a Puncak Purnama exhibition held to commemorate the recently-demolished Lunar Peaks/Puncak Purnama sculpture by the late Datuk Syed Ahmad Jamal.

Themed “Future Communities”, the KLAF 2016 includes a series of events such as the PAM Green Forum, PAM Design Forum and public lecture by architects and designers from all over the world that were held last week.

The architecture event was officiated by PAM president Mohd Zulhemlee An, who said that more exhibitions will be held at the new PAM centre in future.

“It will be a new tourist attraction as well to uplift the good image of the nation,” said Zulhemlee.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur Architecture 2016 director David Teh said, “The KLAF 2016 is a complete transformation of a close event to an open one, from a private to a public event. It is a celebration of architecture and design with the objective of sharing them with the public and we look forward to engaging with them this year.”

“The notion of an architecture festival is that it is part of a public domain, and therefore celebrated by the public and not just the architecture profession,” he added.

Teh mentioned that this year the KLAF had been intentionally rebranded and refocused to make it a celebration of architecture and design with the objective of engaging with the public. 

The exhibition is free and is open to the public at the new PAM centre from 9am to 6pm daily. The exhibition runs from today until Friday.
