KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 1): Rehda Institute had organised numerous study tours in recent years for Malaysian property players and stakeholders.

All those who participated have gained insights on developments in the property segment in different parts of the world.

It is with this in mind that Rehda Institute is organising the Asia Real Estate Leaders (AREL) event to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on 12 to 15 November this year.

The institute’s study trips in the past include those to Bangkok in 5 to 9 December 2022; Singapore, 2 to 5, May 2023; Jakarta, 22 to 24 August 2023; and Hong Kong & Shenzen, 5 to 8 March 2024.

Many of those taking part are captains of industry and major players while accompanied by government officials such as those from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government.

They get to conduct ‘high-level’ networking while learning about the best practices in other countries such as visits to top public housing developments in Singapore while being briefed by the HDB’s senior management.    

During the Hong Kong & Shenzen trip, participants meeting opportunities with Urban Renewal Authority (URA) Hong Kong, tours and presentations by JLL HK, Knight Frank HK, Bank of China, and briefi­ngs by HK Strata Lawyers.

Network meetings included that with chairman and CEO of Kerry Properties and the chairman of Kerry Holdings, Kuok Khoon Hua (Robert Kuok’s son).

In Jakarta, Malaysia’s top property players were provided with guided visits by Indonesian conglomerates such as Artha Graha Group, ASRI, Bumi, Serpong Damai (BSD City), and Jababeka Industrial Estate.

As for the upcoming visit to Ho Chi Minh City, AREL will get a closer look at how Vietnam is fast becoming one of Asean's major players in attracting to industrial investors, where it is also developing world class industrial parks.

There will also be opportunities to meet, learn and network from Vietnam government authorities (involved in urban planning, housing, industrial developments) and property developers in the country.
