KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 30): IJM Land Bhd’s chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Wong Tuck Wai is retiring after a 28-month stint at the property division of conglomerate IJM Corp Bhd (KL:IJM), internal communication showed.

Datuk Tony Ling Thou Lung, the current chief operating officer (COO) of IJM Land, will be taking over as CEO effective Nov 1, 2024, according to an announcement made via an e-mail to staff on Tuesday (Oct 29).

Wong, 69, has decided to end his fixed-term contract earlier, to spend time with family and manage personal matters, according to the e-mail sighted by The Edge. His last day will be Oct 31, 2024.

Ling joined IJM Land in March 2023 as COO after spending 15 years at peer S P Setia Bhd (KL:SPSETIA). Ling will be responsible for formulating and implementing the strategies and plans for IJM Land’s business and portfolio of property development, the e-mail said.

Wong was appointed as IJM Land’s CEO on July 1, 2022. He was previously deputy president and COO of S P Setia. According to IJM’s website, Wong currently sits on the board of ERMS Bhd and Sebana Golf & Marina Resort Bhd.
