KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 24): Perak Transit Bhd (KL:PTRANS), a developer and operator of integrated public transportation terminals (IPTT), said on Thursday that it has received a letter of award and approval from the Kelantan state secretary's office to develop the Kota Bharu Sentral (KB Sentral) terminal.

The decision to award the project to Perak Transit was made during a state government council meeting held on Oct 2, the company said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia.

“Perak Transit shall appoint China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) as the main contractor for the project,” it said.

Details announced to the stock exchange were sparse, with Perak Transit stating that further conditions will be communicated by the state authority in the coming days.

In addition to KB Sentral, he also announced that the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project is expected to be fully operational by the same year.

Perak Transit is principally involved in operating IPTTs, namely Terminal Meru Raya and Kampar Putra Sentral in Perak, and providing public bus services in Malaysia.

The Perak-based company is also involved in petrol station operations in Ipoh, Lahat and Kuala Kangsar, as well as the construction of telecommunication towers.

Shares of Perak Transit closed half a sen or 0.70% higher at 72 sen on Thursday, valuing the group at RM803.82 million.
