- HALO will be a 10-storey, purpose-built labour quarters development, with a capacity to house 3,000 workers.
KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 1): Titijaya Land Bhd (KL:TITIJYA) has secured Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd (KL:PMETAL) as the first customer for its centralised labour quarters (CLQ) project called HALO (Housing, Accommodation and Lodging) in Klang Sentral, Selangor.
According to a statement on Tuesday, Titijaya, through its subsidiary Titijaya PMC Sdn Bhd, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with PMB Aluminium Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Press Metal, in setting up the foundation for a long-term rental agreement between both parties.
Under the MOU, PMB Aluminium will rent part of HALO for a minimum period of three years, accommodating at least 350 of its workers.
HALO will be a 10-storey, purpose-built labour quarters development, with a capacity to house 3,000 workers. Construction is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025 (4Q2025) and complete in 2Q2026.
Titijaya group managing director Datuk Lim Poh Yit said in a statement: “We are pleased to announce that we have secured Press Metal as the first customer for HALO, our upcoming CLQ project. HALO will support Press Metal’s current and future worker accommodation needs, improving the welfare of their workers and aligning with ESG (environmental, social and governance) best practices.
“HALO reflects our commitment to ESG within our development portfolio. When completed, it will have more than 3,000 sustainable, hospitable units that will help address the shortage of worker accommodation in Klang and Shah Alam,” said Lim.
The development will be compliant with International Labour Organization standards, Malaysia's Employees’ Minimum Standards of Housing, Accommodations and Amenities Act 1990 (Act 446), as well as international standards set by the Responsible Business Alliance, the developer said in the same statement.
“An essential infrastructure project that capitalises on the rapid growth of the Klang Valley’s industrial sectors, HALO is poised to unlock a recurrent revenue stream for the group. This will further diversify our earnings base and contribute to our positive growth momentum,” Lim added.
