KAJANG (Sept 20): EcoWorld Malaysia recently held its #AnakAnakMalaysia (AAM) 2024 celebration this year at Eco Majestic with the theme of fostering unity, community spirit and environmental awareness.

The event on Sept 14 featured the duduk Fun Run and Bazaar, which attracted 5,000 participants for the 5km race.

“With the duduk Fun Run, EcoWorld hopes to raise awareness about reducing carbon emissions, aligning with the government’s goal to achieve a carbon-neutral nation by 2050.

“Also, in celebration of our nation’s 67th Independence Day and Malaysia Day, EcoWorld is proud to host programmes that promote unity and a healthier lifestyle. By coming together, regardless of our backgrounds, we can create a more vibrant and inclusive community,” said chairman of #AAM 2024, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye.

As part of the sustainability theme, the running medals for this event are made from a combination of natural materials, specifically recyclable zinc alloy, which is durable and helps reduce resource consumption.

Also in line with the sustainability agenda, #AAM 2024 provided Grab Car promo codes for eco-friendly transportation, cashless payment options, recycling facilities, and the Bring Your Own Bottle initiative.

The duduk Fun Bazaar had over 40 vendors, including 17 local brands, which “served as a prime platform for entrepreneurs to connect with customers and promote local products, encouraging Malaysians to support their community”, stated EcoWorld in a media release.

The group also hosted 50 students from the Eco World Foundation Students Aid Programme, representing nearby schools, for the duduk Fun Run.

“Our goal is to educate children about environmental protection and instil noble values. We hope these small steps inspire the public to embrace a greener lifestyle and contribute to a brighter future for Malaysia,” added Lee.

The run was flagged off by Tuan Mohd Fareez Bin Mohd Ariss @ Mohd Hatta, deputy president of the Kajang Municipal Council, along with Lee; Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin, executive chairman of EcoWorld Malaysia; Datuk Chang Khim Wah, CEO of EcoWorld Malaysia; and Evon Yap, divisional general manager of EcoWorld Malaysia.
