PETALING JAYA (Aug 21): Tropicana Corporation Bhd and VitaHealth Malaysia attracted 300 participants to its Offline 16 mental wellness event on Saturday (Aug 17).

Held at the refurbished Grand Ballroom of Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, the event started at 8am and ended at midnight, challenging all participants to “disconnect in order to reconnect”, stated Tropicana in a media release.

Offline 16 is meant to foster face-to-face interactions through engaging and fun activities without the use of mobile devices or screen time for 16 hours.

Hosted by TV personality Emerson Sean, participants took part in a series of activities such as fitness challenges, a therapy sanctuary, a stand-up comedy performance by Douglas Lim, badminton with Malaysia’s Olympian badminton champion and VitaHealth’s ambassador – Pearly Tan, a sharing session with Malaysian Mental Health Association (MMHA) and more.

The day culminated with VitaHealth and Tropicana receiving a Malaysia Book of Records award for “Most Accumulated Offline Hours in a Day”.

Also invited were children from orphanage homes, aged between 13 and 17. The children from Praise Emmanuel Home and Rumah Charis enjoyed the MMHA sharing, treated to wellness activities as well as food packs throughout the day.

“Tropicana started its sustainable journey centred around eight unique development DNAs and 3 ESG pillars, namely People, Planet and Partnerships, where creating a safe, sustainable and thriving community is at the heart of everything we do. With this in mind, we respect the well-being of our people as we believe mental health should be valued, promoted, and protected. We are very pleased to jointly host this successful ESG event with VitaHealth providing an avenue for our employees as well as the community to disconnect to reconnect,” said Tropicana Corporation CEO, Ong Chou Wen.

“We are thankful that the event went on smoothly and that all participants benefitted from it, walking away feeling renewed, refreshed and rejuvenated,” added Ong.

CEO of VitaHealth (Malaysia and Singapore), Dr KS Beh stated that: “As a global nutrition provider for more than 70 years, our group firmly believes in our long-standing value that the true quality of life stems from a harmonious balance between physical health, and mental wellness. In recent years, the prevalence of mental health issues has become a global concern. Offline 16 was inspired by these insights and we are so pleased with the overwhelming turnout and support from the public, media members as well as our corporate partners.”

“The success of this event is also in celebration of VitaHealth’s 77th Anniversary hitting a double milestone for our Company. Our ambassador – Pearly Tan, Malaysia’s pride and joy, was also there to engage with the crowd sharing her tips on overcoming challenges and achieving her goals,” he added.

One of the partners of the event was Watsons Malaysia. “We are proud to be one of the participating partners of this truly unique experience that is the Offline 16 event leading to the award in the Malaysia Book of Records. With our corporate responsibilities going beyond health and beauty, we remain committed to inspiring others to embrace not only a healthy appearance but a healthy mind,” said Watsons Malaysia’s general manager of Marketing and Customer Growth, Danny Hoh.
