KUALA LUMPUR (July 22): Eversendai Corp Bhd (KL:SENDAI) has teamed up with a unit of Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Steel Arkan Group (ESA), for the development of the Trojena Ski Village project in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement on Monday, Eversendai said it is collaborating with Emirates Steel, a unit of ESA, which will supply premium steel beams for the construction of the Trojena Ski Village.
The outdoor Trojena Ski Village, which is being developed to host the Asian Winter Games in 2029, is part of a series of Saudi state-endorsed construction projects dubbed NEOM. Eversendai is undertaking structural steel erection works for Trojena.
The construction engineering group, via its unit Eversendai Engineering Saudi LLC, is undertaking the project in collaboration with Saudi state-linked Albawani Co Ltd. The contract size was not revealed.
“Eversendai is proud to collaborate with Emirates Steel on the NEOM Trojena Ski Village, a landmark project that will showcase our collective capabilities in delivering world-class steel construction solutions,” Eversendai deputy group managing director Narishnath Nathan said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Emirates Steel chief executive officer Saeed Alghafri said the company is "delighted to partner with Eversendai on this significant project which promises to be a staple of NEOM in Saudi Arabia".
"Emirates Steel is committed to supplying benchmark sustainable steel solutions that meet the stringent demands of innovative construction projects," Alghafri said.
"This collaboration exemplifies our dedication to driving sustainable growth across the GCC [Gulf Cooperation Council] and delivering value to our partners and stakeholders," he added.
Trojena is located in the hilly areas of the Tabuk province in northwest Saudi Arabia, near the Red Sea bordering Jordan and Egypt. Apart from the skiing slopes and resort, it will feature chalets, apartments and luxury mansions.
Shares in Eversendai were traded higher four sen or 7.48% to 57.5 sen at the time of writing, valuing the company at RM449.08 million.
