PETALING JAYA (July 1): Tim Sekata Sdn Bhd director of business development Oliver Wee Hiang Chyn (pictured) has been re-elected as the president of the Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) for the June 2024 to June 2026 term during the association's 70th annual general meeting (AGM) at Avante Hotel, here on June 29.

In a press statement, it was revealed that Wee had actively served with MBAM since 1994 and has over 40 years of experience in the construction industry.

He was appointed as Board Member of the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia and the Board of Director of Construction Labour Exchange Berhad in 2022. He was also appointed as a member of the panel of experts under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government in March 2023.

“We have seen 70 years of dedication, innovation and unwavering commitment in driving MBAM forward and together, we have weathered through challenges, celebrated triumphs and forged enduring bonds that have defined our association’s legacy. I am confident that with the unwavering support of all MBAM Council Members present here, we will continue to be the guiding light for our construction industry,” said Wee.

During the AGM, 26 council members were elected as MBAM office bearers. The elected deputy president was Kenneth Liew Kiam Woon of LFE Engineering Sdn Bhd.

Meanwhile, Gamuda Bhd’s (KL:GAMUDA) Datuk Ubull Din Om, Crest Builder Sdn Bhd’s Eric Yong Shang Ming, Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd’s Richard Wong, Fajarbaru Builder Sdn Bhd’s Datuk Seri Eric Kuan and Syarikat Pembenaan Yeoh Tiong Lay Sdn Bhd’s Yeoh Keong Yuan have been elected as the vice presidents.

Norwest Holdings Sdn Bhd’s Datuk Astaman Abdul Aziz was elected as secretary general while IJM Corp Bhd's (KL:IJM) Ong Teng Cheng was elected as treasurer-general.
