• Tan Sri Dr Chan Ah Chye, major shareholder and director of the property developer, passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 78.

KUALA LUMPUR (June 12): Talam Transform Bhd's (KL:TALAMT) shares were one of the most active in early trade on Wednesday, gaining half sen or 25% to 2.5 sen, following the demise of its major shareholder Tan Sri Chan Ah Chye.

As at 9.30am, some 33.09 million Talam shares have changed hands, making it the third most active counter on Bursa Malaysia. At 2.5 sen, the company is valued at RM107.4 million.

Tan Sri Dr Chan Ah Chye, major shareholder and director of the property developer, passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 78.

In a bourse filing, Talam Transform confirmed the demise of Chan, who was its non-independent and non-executive director — a post he was redesignated to in 2009. Prior to that, Chan, who joined the group's board on Nov 6, 1990, was the group's executive chairman.

Chan was also the executive director and former major shareholder of Kumpulan Europlus Bhd, now known as WCE Holdings Bhd (KL:WCEHB).
