• Nippon Paint said TCCS is the first in the region offering tailored refurbishment solutions ranging from repainting to re-waterproofing and reflooring.

PETALING JAYA (May 28): Nippon Paint (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd presented its Total Coating and Construction Solutions (TCCS) as a comprehensive framework for mall revitalisation in a Maintenance and Refurbishment Workshop conducted recently.

Organised together with the Malaysia Shopping Malls Association (PPK Malaysia), the workshop aimed to upskill industry players and elevate the maintenance and refurbishment standards of shopping malls nationwide.

In a media release, Nippon Paint said TCCS is the first in the region offering tailored refurbishment solutions ranging from repainting to re-waterproofing and reflooring.

“This structured approach, coupled with stringent quality assurance measures and expert workmanship, ensures not only safety and regulatory compliance but also customer satisfaction,” it stated.

In the workshop, Nippon Paint pointed out that many maintenance issues such as efflorescence, cracks, fungus, and water leakage arise from non-adherence to correct application methods, protocols and optimal equipment utilisation. Addressing these issues from the get-go will not only reduce the hassle of maintenance, but also ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to best practices, ultimately enhancing the beautification and structural integrity of malls in Malaysia.

Nippon Paint added its five-step service framework covers everything from site assessment to post-assessment and handovers, which helps streamline property maintenance, making it more efficient, cost-friendly, and hassle-free for mall operators.

“We believe investment in maintenance and refurbishment of malls plays a key role in not only upholding Malaysia's architectural structure but also contributes to enhancing the retail landscape by empowering industry professionals with essential skills and knowledge for maintaining safety standards, mitigating potential hazards, and delivering exceptional experiences to both retailers and patrons, ultimately stimulating economic growth for the nation," said Nippon Paint Malaysia general manager Tay Sze Tuck in the statement.

The company said the collaboration signifies its commitment to enhancing the retail sector,  which has shown continued upward momentum, with forecasts projecting a steady 4% annual increase in sales.

“We understand shopping malls now not only compete against each other, but also face competition from e-retailers worldwide, hence it’s important for us to be ahead to mitigate issues.

“We do believe that shopping malls have a competitive advantage in bringing people together. This collaboration with Nippon Paint has amplified our initiatives and reflects our shared commitment to empowering our members with a comprehensive solution,” said PPK Malaysia executive director Evelyn Lo in the same statement.
