SUBANG JAYA (Sept 7): Buyers of Avaland Bhd's green-certified properties will be able to enjoy lower interest rates following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Alliance Bank today.

Property developer Avaland Bhd, formerly known as MCT Bhd, signed the MOU with Alliance Bank after receiving GreenRE certifications for six of its projects.

The tie-up with the Alliance Bank Green Mortgage Financing Package serves as a push to encourage homeownership of green-certified properties.

Purchasers of these properties will get lower interest rates by 10 basis points (bps) from the current preferential rate, subject to the customer's lending profile..

"This is a win-win collaboration between Avaland and Alliance Bank that will reward customers for buying green-certified properties as their home of choice," said Avaland chief operating officer Aw Sei Cheh.

"Our collaboration with like-minded partners such as Avaland reinforces our commitment to fostering a sustainable community and environment, while supporting our customers' homeownership journey,” said Alliance Bank group chief consumer banking officer Gan Pai Li.

Avaland’s Sustainability Roadmap launched

Avaland also launched its Sustainability Roadmap at its headquarters in USJ here today. Guided by its parent company Ayala Land Inc’s robust sustainability framework, Avaland’s Sustainability Roadmap is developed in line with its product standardisation manual across the different segments that Avaland serves in.

"We are tapping on the expertise of our counterparts in Ayala Land, which have long been a champion of sustainable practices in its developments. Launching the Sustainability Roadmap is our first step in sustainability development and we are doing our bit to reduce carbon emission," said Aw.

The product standardisation manual will incorporate sustainable features in all its projects, focusing on four key sustainability areas: Site Resilience, Resource Efficiency, People Mobility & Connectivity and Local Economic Development.

"We focused on these four key areas because of our strong conviction that initiatives on these areas will make a lasting impact on the environment and in the communities that we are a part of," he highlighted.

“All these are completed within a remarkable timeline of just six months! I understand that Avaland is the first developer to achieve this in such record time!" Aw revealed at the event today.
