PETALING JAYA (Feb 15): Tropicana Corp Bhd ushered in the Year of the Water Rabbit with more than RM3 million contributed to worthy causes in 2022.

These contributions included sponsorship and donations to the underprivileged and those in need, such as flood victims and orphans, as well as social outreach to frontliners and sports associations. All these efforts are powered by Tropicana Foundation, the group’s charity arm.

“The past two years saw Malaysians from all walks of life facing unprecedented challenges.Throughout this difficult period, we continued to reach out to the needy and give back to the public, in line with our role as a community builder and Tropicana Foundation’s focus on Redefining the Art of Caring.

“In 2022, this mission saw the group extending support to a wide range of organisations and demographics through initiatives such as our annual Buggy of Joy charity drive, ringing in the lunar new year with charitable cheer,” said group executive director of Tropicana, Jared Ang.

Launched in 2020, the Buggy of Joy aims to collect dry goods and essentials for underprivileged homes all over Klang Valley. Back for its third iteration in 2022, Buggy of Joy channelled donated items such as rice, cooking oil, baby milk, masks, sanitiser and more to 15 homes, including Ti-Ratana Welfare Society Malaysia, Rumah Ozanam and Yayasan Chow Kit.

Other assistance programmes by the group included donations to the United Chinese School Teachers’ Association of Malaysia, Sultanah Bahiyah Foundation, Kedah State Treasury and Town Planners Malaysia Sports & Welfare Club, as well as RM1 million contributed to the National Sports Council of Malaysia.

Contributions also came from numerous townships, subsidiaries and partners, including Tropicana Aman, Tropicana Metropark, Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, Tropicana’s southern divisions (Tropicana Southern) and WOW Event Asia.

These included a Christmas luncheon for underprivileged children organised by Tropicana Aman, Tropicana’s largest 863-acre township in Kota Kemuning, along with games with prizes, sing-alongs and arts & crafts workshops.

Tropicana also joined worked with with WOW Event Asia to host a festive luncheon and treats for children from Ti-Ratana Welfare Society and Rumah Kasih Harmoni at Tropicana Gardens Mall. This included tickets to Golden Screen Cinemas, as well as a visit to “The World of DC Exhibition”.
