• It is more than just saying HI to Santa at the malls this year

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 13): It is that time of the year again when local malls go all out to look their best for the merry month.

We may be living just above the equator but the cooler weather of the rainy monsoon season may lend a degree of reality to our imagination of winter wonderlands as simulated by the malls.

This time around, EdgeProp.my has collated the Christmas compositions from Mid Valley Megamall, Berjaya Times Square, 1 Utama, Suria KLCC, Alamanda Putrajaya, Sunway Pyramid and KL East Mall from the Klang Valley, as well as Sunway Carnival Mall from Penang for your visual feast.

Now that the pandemic has tapered, do take the chance to drop by, click away, soak in the year-end vibes and wish for a better 2023 ahead.

Merry Christmas from EdgeProp!

Mid Valley Megamall

This ever-popular shopping mall in the Klang Valley has consistently been one of the go-to destinations to capture Yuletide selfies and wefies, and this year, you can do so with five other friends – Button, Brownie, Twinkle, Jingle and Holly – in a festive forest village. Join them as they get ready for a wonderful gathering – shopping in Mid Valley Megamall, wrapping gifts, dressing up and decorating a beautiful Christmas party as one big family. There will also be live performances of Christmas carols happening throughout the season.

Berjaya Times Square

The warm enchanting ambience of the town will definitely set the right tone for your Instagram wishes of love, joy, peace and hope for your family and friends.

1 Utama

If you cannot get enough of trains, 1 Utama is letting you ride on a 30ft British steam locomotive with “billowing smoke and simulated puffing sounds” as part of its holiday ensemble. Choo choo away around the mall’s Swiss Alps Town complete with snow-capped peaks and a crystal clear lake. You can also enjoy a 3D diorama showcase created by renowned visual artist Eddie Putera Noordin, who has expertly captured scenes of 1 Utama’s Swiss Alps Town and train set miniatures with his fine craftsmanship.

Suria KLCC

The iconic tallest Christmas tree in Malaysia — standing at a whopping 100ft tall — returns this gift-giving season in all its grandeur, surrounded with presents on a conveyor belt at its base. At Santa’s Workshop Alive!, kids and those young at heart can colour their favourite Christmas characters, scan them and watch them come to life on screen. During the weekends, children can also meet Santa Claus and get a free lollipop from him! Meanwhile, the adults are invited to a Christmas Card Corner to send the season’s greetings to loved ones with Suria KLCC’s Christmas Cards.

Alamanda Putrajaya

Parents will love the festive-themed workshops here for VIKids at Alamanda Putrajaya, which include the Gingerbread Man Decoration and Waterless Snow Globes. Non-VIKids-members can sign up on the spot to participate in the workshops. There will also be Christmas dances and acrobatics at the centre court. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Santa Claus and Mrs Claus will be making an appearance to greet shoppers.

Sunway Pyramid

As part of Sunway Malls’ Wander Wonder Christmas Activities, make a wish at the interactive Sunway Pyramid’s wishing pond, where the Christmas buddy, Mushy Claus, will bring joy and luck to you! Enjoy the experience when fairies come to life through augmented reality. You can also take home an exclusive mushroom mug with customisable sticker sheets and scented candle by Hooga. Christmas trees here are embellished with butterflies, dragonflies and magical fairies.

Sunway Carnival Mall

Sunway Carnival Mall’s Wander Wonder Christmas Activities comes in the form of a whimsical forest. Get ready to be surrounded by larger-than-life flowers and trees, stunning and colourful animals, insects and plants. Enter the sentinel of the forest, dominated a mighty 35ft Christmas tree. Step into it and you will find a secret avatar forest waiting for you to explore!

KL East Mall

The mall is boosting the moment-sharing buzz by inviting visitors to “sleigh” their social media content by creating reels featuring the mall’s festive decorations. Visitors and shoppers can spread the Christmas cheer through Facebook and Instagram using “their creativity and prowess with digital tools and apps”. Selected participants who post their reels using the hashtags #kleastmall and #christmasonreels will be rewarded with a RM50 e-voucher. There will also be performances by Malaysia-based Scottish pipe band, Kuala Lumpur Pipes & Drums, jazz ensemble Urban Tribes as well as SAB A Cappella and voice choir Dames of Harmonia.
