KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 1): Sunway Construction Group Bhd (SunCon)’s unit Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd has been awarded a construction project worth RM278 million from the indirect subsidiary of its parent company Sunway Bhd.

The construction job is in respect of the main building works for the proposed development of two blocks of residential condominiums, which consist of a podium, car park, common facilities and swimming pool, located in Bukit Jalil, said SunCon in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

The project shall commence on Nov 1, 2022 and is expected to be completed on Oct 31, 2025.

“The project is expected to contribute positively to the earnings of SunCon for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023 onwards,” it said.

The project was awarded by Sunway Flora Sdn Bhd, formerly known as Sterling Paradise Sdn Bhd.

According to SunCon, the total new projects secured by the group this year including the above-mentioned project amounted to RM881 million.

In a separate filing, SunCon announced that it had received a letter of award worth RM185 million from Sharp Ventures Solar Sdn Bhd to conduct EPCC works for a 50-megawatt solar photovoltaic energy generating facility in Kapar, Klang.

Previously, in December last year, it had received the letter of intent for the EPCC works. 

Shares in SunCon closed three sen or 1.97% higher at RM1.55 on Tuesday (Nov 1), giving it a market capitalisation of RM2 billion.
