KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 20): SK B (S K Brothers) Real Estate (SKB), one of the oldest real estate companies in the country, has entered into a collaboration with Keller Williams (KW) Malaysia.

With the move, SKB will be “coming in to be part of KW Malaysia” while SKB general manager Chan Ai Cheng will be actively involved in an advisory capacity in spearheading the strategic direction of Market Centre 2, inspiring and impacting Real Estate Negotiators through one-on-one business consultations and their career developments in the real estate business, KW Malaysia wrote in a Facebook posting last week.

“This is significant because SKB felt it was time to pivot and change with the times. Chan has always looked to the west for best practices of real estate, so joining the KW group was not a difficult decision,” KW Malaysia group CEO Jonathan Lee told EdgeProp.my.

“She recognises that with the evolving times on how real estate is run, technology is an important aspect of growth.”

Lee said the partnership was a “mutual decision based on relationship, similar values, leadership styles and culture”.

KW Malaysia also stated that Chan brings with her more than two decades of experience and knowledge of the changing trends in the real estate industry.

KW Malaysia is part of the KW global brand and the world’s largest real estate technology franchise by agent count.

Having been set up in Malaysia in May 2019, its strengths are training, culture, effective business models and evolving technology tools and systems.

Leverage technology

Meanwhile, Chan is also the current Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) president (2021-2023).

“She believes that in order to grow, the industry needs to leverage technology and continue to up and change the standards of real estate.

“KW Malaysia has the most advanced tech systems, tools and solutions that will help improve efficiency and professionalism of real estate,” Lee added.

On her part, Chan said that “we don’t want to reinvent the wheel; it takes too much time and cost.”

“KW’s system is comprehensive and is working and helping agents in the US. Admittedly, customisation is required for the local Malaysian market, which is what KW Malaysia has been doing for the past three years, and they are ever innovating, enhancing and adding to improve their tech offering. Their training modules are amazing for agents.

“I personally connect with their values of God, Family, then Business – in that order – and their mission to build careers worth having, businesses worth owning, lives worth living, experiences worth giving and legacies worth leaving,” she added.

“SKB has been around since 1979 and it is no easy feat to remain in the real estate business till today.

“The real estate business has evolved so much, and all of us in real estate must evolve, or we won’t be there in the future,” said Chan.
