PETALING JAYA (March 17): IOI Properties Group (IOIPG) has launched IOI Kickstart, an initiative aimed to provide financial support and business technique to promising start-ups in the proptech, agritech and green solutions field.

An incubation programme, the IOI Kickstart initiative is in line with IOIPG’s passion for nurturing young talents within the communities the Group operates in, says IOIPG chief executive officer Datuk Voon Tin Yow.

“This is how we play our part in building sustainable communities by going beyond providing the physical amenities,” said Voon.

IOI Kickstart received 40 start-ups applications with half of the applications being invited to pitch their ideas. Only six were selected to be part of the three-year programme.

The selected start-ups are Arus Oil which focuses on repurposing used cooking oil into biodiesel; FESLink offers cloud-based management system for hotels and AirBnB; GrabMaid works on allowing price comparison and direct booking of cleaning services from various vendors; LinkUp Smart Solutions integrates various smart home devices into a single cloud-based platform for seamless control; Safe-T5 monitors slope movements to provide early warning by developing a cloud-based slope monitoring system; and Tomorrow Data, an app developer who has worked with IOIPG to develop end-to-end leads and sales tracking progress.

The selected start-ups will receive a RM50,000 grant as working capital and free use of office space at IOI Rio in Bandar Puteri Puchong.

Through the programme, they will receive invaluable mentoring from IOIPG’s C-suite personnel to obtain valuable insights on what appeals to the customers while also having business opportunities to jointly develop and provide products and services to complement IOIPG’s projects.
