KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 22): Malaysia’s daily number of administered Covid-19 vaccine doses dipped to 261,255 yesterday (Sept 21) from 289,618 the day before, bringing the cumulative number of shots administered to 40.93 million.
Of the total doses administered yesterday, 123,414 individuals received their first shot, while the remaining 137,841 received their second jab, according to the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) COVIDNOW website, citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).
As of yesterday, 21.81 million recipients or 93.2% of Malaysia’s adult population had received at least their first jab, including 18.77 million or 80.2% who had been administered both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Meanwhile, a total of 22.22 million persons or 68% of the country’s total population had received at least their first dose as of yesterday, including 18.79 million or 57.5% who were fully vaccinated.
For the Klang Valley, comprising Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, about 7.09 million individuals or 84.2% of its total population had received at least one dose as of yesterday.
Among them, 6.62 million people or 78.6% of the Klang Valley’s population were fully inoculated with two doses.
Sabah recorded the highest daily number of first doses administered yesterday with 23,888 jabs, followed by Johor (17,294), Pahang (15,897) and Perak (14,580).
As for second doses, Johor topped the list with 36,076 shots, followed by Sabah (15,805), Kedah (14,578) and Kelantan (13,117).
Malaysia reported 15,759 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, up from the 14,345 the day before. This brought total Covid-19 infections in the country to 2.13 million.
Meanwhile, 334 more Covid-19 related deaths were reported, raising the nation’s cumulative fatalities to 24,078.
