KUALA LUMPUR (July 28): About 83% of the adult population of the Klang Valley had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as of yesterday (July 27), according to latest tweets by the Special Committee on Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).
As for second doses, 29.7% of the adult residents in the Klang Valley — comprising Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya — had been fully vaccinated.
Under "Operation Surge Capacity", a total of 238,518 vaccine jabs were administered in the Klang Valley yesterday, up from 219,923 the day before.
Of the latest 238,518 doses administered, 144,285 were first shots, while the remaining 94,233 were second jabs.
Under Operation Surge Capacity, which was introduced to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the Klang Valley, each adult individual in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor is ensured of receiving at least one dose of the vaccine by Aug 1.
Malaysia administered 553,871 Covid-19 vaccine doses nationwide yesterday — the country's highest daily figure so far — up 6.12% from 521,923 previously.
This was the second consecutive day that the country delivered over 500,000 vaccine doses.
The Klang Valley yesterday alone recorded 9,195 new infections. Selangor saw 6,616 cases, while Kuala Lumpur had 2,457 and Putrajaya 122.
