Malaysia sets new daily vaccination record with 375,842 doses administered on July 7, cumulative shots topped 10 million

KUALA LUMPUR (July 8): Malaysia achieved its highest Covid-19 vaccine doses administered so far, recording 375,842 doses administered yesterday (July 7). 

Of this, 207,795 people have received their first dose while 168,047 have received both doses, according to latest tweets by the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

This is the third consecutive day that the country delivered more than 300,000 daily shots. A total of 313,761 vaccine doses were administered on Monday, while 340,043 doses were administered on Tuesday.

This means Malaysia administered over 1 million doses in the past three days. 

The seven-day moving average of daily vaccine doses climbed further to 278,954 from 262,230 previously.

For the first dose, Selangor recorded the highest number of shots at 49,645, followed by Kuala Lumpur (35,168) and Sarawak (29,137).  

Sarawak, meanwhile, led the country with the highest number of two-dose vaccinations — those who are fully inoculated — at 43,834, followed by Selangor (30,964), and Kuala Lumpur (20,784).

Cumulatively, 10.04 million vaccine doses have been administered since the country’s vaccination plan started on Feb 24. Of this, 7 million have gotten their first dose while 3.04 million are fully inoculated.

Malaysia reported 7,097 new Covid-19 cases yesterday — the second consecutive day that the country reported more than 7,000 cases. 

Selangor, the worst-hit state, continued to post more than 3,000 new infections with 3,119 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,005) and Negeri Sembilan (788), according to Health Director-General Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement.

The country’s cumulative Covid-19 infections stood at 799,790.
