KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 6): After being forced to leave their homes since Oct 1, 2020, residents of an apartment in Seputeh are demanding that the temple management find a solution to prevent landslide incidents from happening again, Malay Mail reported.

Residents of an apartment next to a Chinese temple in Seputeh were displaced after a second landslide happened last Thursday, with their homes being sealed off for safety reasons.

A spokesperson told Malay Mail that the apartment management has liaised with the temple’s management for over 10 years on the landslide issue, requesting the latter fix the land erosion problem. However, nothing has been done with the issue getting increasingly worse.

Last Thursday, Bernama reported that 11 occupants from the three-storey apartment at Persiaran Syed Putra were affected after the embankment near their building collapsed following a heavy downpour.

According to the Malay Mail report, the spokesperson of the temple said they have engaged with land experts and the solution to prevent further landslides is to build a protective rock or concrete block against erosion on the slope.

He said the construction of a multi-storey car park could potentially solve the problem and urged Kuala Lumpur city hall to approve the project.
