Orbix to open its third campus in Gravit8, Klang South

KLANG (Aug 7): Property developer Mitraland Group welcomed Orbix Education Group (a subsidiary of Abric Bhd) to set up its third international school at Pier8 @ Gravit8 in Kota Bayuemas, Klang, come January 2021.

Mitraland Group chairman Datuk Johan Ariffin said the addition of the international school will create vibrancy to the surrounding communities.

“This is a significant milestone for us and the surrounding communities. Not only is Orbix a bi-lingual (English and Mandarin) school that offers a comprehensive and holistic curricula, exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics is bound to spark curiosity and so applying them in their education syllabus can be an incredibly powerful learning tool," he said in a press statement yesterday.

Orbix Education Group executive chairman Datuk Albert Ong has inked a MoU with Mitraland Group yesterday at Pier8.

The upcoming Klang campus will be known as the ‘School of AI and Robotics'. This curriculum will run concurrently with the core curriculum of Cambridge IGCSE and Fieldwork Education (UK) that is also incorporated with the National curriculum.

This is also the first campus for Orbix Education Group in Klang Valley, the company currently operates two other international schools in Muar (School of Entrepreneurship) and Batu Pahat (School of Adventure Sports and Nature), Johor.

Orbix will be partnering with a large AI based technology company in China -- IFLYTEK to introduce an AI syllabus for students aged 6 to 18 years - a first in the country. This comprehensive syllabus will cover areas on coding, machine learning, robotics and big data.

The collaboration is in-line with the education group’s strategy to introduce this AI syllabus in all of its schools in stages.

"We believe in collaborating with Mitraland at Pier8 to provide the ideal conduit of bridging quality education to the community," said Ong.

With a total net lettable area of 150,000 sq ft, the Pier8 retail mall is part of the integrated development of Gravit8, a 23-acre freehold mixed-use development in Klang South.

It also combines residential components and family-friendly facilities like the 8-acre Lakepark. Gravit8 is a community-driven hub, designed with communities in mind whilst offering a bustling and modern lifestyle.
