PETALING JAYA (April 29): Unable to withstand impact from the Covid-19 pandemic, Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Melaka will cease operations in end-June, according to a Sinchew Daily report.
The five-star hotel which is located at Jalan Bendahara in Malacca city, which was built in early 80s, is managed by Wyndham Hotel Group.
According to the letter from the hotel's owner directed to the National Union of Hotel, Bar and Restaurant Workers, Peninsular Malaysia general secretary Rusli Affandi, the hotel has decided to close business indefinitely.
“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic since January 2020 and the Movement Control Order (MCO) since March 18, 2020, the hospitality industry has been extremely impacted and we are no exception,”
“We shall serve two months’ termination notice as per the Collective Agreement or the contracts of employment to the employees and their last working day shall be on Jun 30, 2020. We will be paying them termination benefit as per their contracts of employment,” according to the letter.
The letter was signed by two directors of MTB Realty Sdn Bhd, the owner of the hotel.
