KUALA LUMPUR (April 15): Malaysian actor Ashraf Muslim tested positive for COVID-19, after filming a serial drama "Demi" in Inverness, Scotland, late last month, Berita Harian reported today.

The report said Ashraf kept quiet about his condition for a long time but finally shared his sentiment through an Instagram post, this afternoon.

In his statement in Bahasa Melayu, he apologized to everyone including his media friends for choosing not to comment.

The statement said he received confirmation about being infected on April 12 and felt overwhelmed but accepted God's choice.

He said there was wisdom behind it and requested for the public to pray for him and other COVID-19 patients.

According to Berita Harian, he did not reveal where he was undergoing treatment and quarantine.

"Please wish me well and Covid-19 patients. May Allah stop this outbreak, and prevent it from continuing as well as keep everyone healthy.

“I also want to apologize to a fellow journalist who contacted me. Please understand my situation now.

“Do not forget the front line personnel such as doctors, medical assistants, nurses and those involved. Thank you, you are our hero,” he wrote.

Berita Harian said the actor of "Aku Masih Dara" and "Bukan Cinta Malaikat" asked his family to pray for him.

“To Mom, Mom, Sarah, Adam, Anas and Safiyyah, pray for dad to recover from this virus quickly. So we can meet in crowds.

“I miss you so much, but don't worry that you're okay, healthy, can pray and read the Quran as usual.

“Be good to God. Only God gives sickness and gives healing," he wrote.

According to Berita Harian, the "Demi" drama production group left for Scotland on March 9, before the Movement Control Order (MCO) was enforced.

A total of 18 staff including directors, actors and crew involved in the filming of the 26-episode RTM broadcast returned to Kuala Lumpur on March 31.

Earlier, eight production team members including director Rahila Ali and actresses Puteri Aishah and Puteri Rayyana Rayqa tested positive for Covid-19.
