KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 2): The retail price of RON97 will be lowered by 2 sen to RM2.54 per litre, while RON95 and diesel prices will remain unchanged at RM2.08 per litre and RM2.18 per litre respectively for the week of Aug 3 to 9.

In a statement today, the finance ministry said the unchanged retail prices for RON95 and diesel were in line with the government's decision to stabilise fuel retail prices and reduce the cost of living.

Based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), the retail prices of RON95 petrol and diesel for the period were RM2.24 per litre and RM2.33 per litre respectively.

The ministry noted that the government will fork out RM85.78 million in subsidies to maintain the prices per litre of RON95 and diesel at RM2.08 per litre and RM2.18 per litre respectively.
