KUALA LUMPUR (March 27): In a rare sight in the Dewan Rakyat today, a number of opposition Members of Parliament “heaped praise” on Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin (pictured), according to a report from Malaysiakini.

This is because she has answered questions about the status of affordable housing projects in their [BN MPs] constituencies “kindly” and properly and they also feel that Zuraida has “performed”.

Noh Omar (BN-Tanjong Karang) has described Zuraida as “kind compared to other ministers, I'm praising her, okay, if something is being done right, I will say so…”, reported the news portal.

The minister also got praise from Halimah Mohd Sadique (BN-Kota Tinggi), who said: "Rarely would a former minister from the opposition praise a minister from Pakatan Harapan. This is indeed a minister who performs."

Noh Omar is a former housing and local government minister.

Halimah had asked about the status of a PPR project in Kluang.

Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim (BN-Baling) also wanted to know about the status of the PPR project for the hardcore poor in his constituency.

Zuraida replied that the project has been approved by the new government and would go ahead this year.

"Thank you, minister," Abdul Azeez was reported replying. Ahhhhh, civility in the Dewan Rakyat.

The news portal also reported that even BN MPs who did not have questions stood up to say thank you to Zuraida for her efforts.

"I would like to record my thanks to the minister for approving the PPR in Kuala Krau to proceed even though it was initiated by the previous minister. Thank you, minister," Ismail Mohamed Said (BN-Kuala Krau) said.
