KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 26): Police have launched an investigation into the alleged tampering of the Auditor-General’s 2016 report on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.

This follows Auditor-General (A-G) Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad saying that the original audit report on 1MDB issued in 2016 by the National Audit Department had been altered, and that orders to tamper with the report first came from former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Bukit Aman’s Commercial Crimes Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Amar Singh Ishar Singh was quoted by the Malay Mail as saying that the probe will cover several aspects.

“PDRM will call in several witnesses soon to give their testimony and assist in investigations on this issue,” he said, in a statement cited by the news portal.
