PETALING JAYA (Aug 21): Legendary Hollywood actor Meryl Streep's Tribeca penthouse is on the market with an asking price of US$24.6 million (RM100.82 million) – two-and-a-half times the amount she and her husband Donald Gummer had paid for the property back in 2006, reported Curbed NY.

The 4,000 sq ft penthouse is part of the River Lofts condominium that overlooks the Hudson River in Jersey City, New York.

A wraparound 10ft-wide terrace with lush vegetation ensconces the four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom space done in an understated, tasteful fashion which serves as the perfect foil for the property's striking abstract art pieces.

This expansive space – described in the Douglas Elliman listing as combining a “townhouse sensibility” with a “loft-like openness” – is further accentuated by the floor-to-ceiling windows and skylit gallery that welcomes guests stepping out of the secured elevator.

The stunning views of the east and the south is visible from a private den just off the large kitchen that features white cabinets, designer double-wide fridge, ovens, six burner cooktop and dishwasher as well as a kitchen island in dark wood.

The north and west-facing master suite likewise offers stunning views of the Hudson River, as well as a walk-in closet, two separate baths, dressing areas and a sitting area.

Each bedroom also comes with an en-suite bathroom.

The Streep-Gummer's disposal of this prime piece of Manhattan real estate follows their latest real estate acquisition – a US$3.6 million 950s post and beam home in Pasadena.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home is about 3,000 sq ft wide and was put on the market for the first time last year since the 1960s at a reported asking price of US$4.75 million.
