PETALING JAYA (March 9): A property listing for a mansionette in Choa Chu Kang, Singapore, featuring a nude shot of a man has prompted the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) — which regulates the island republic’s real estate industry — to investigate the incident, reported the Straits Times.
Eagle-eyed netizens spotted the man’s naked body in the mirror of one of the pictures of the 143 sq m HDB flat, in the advertisement which was posted on a few property listing sites.
Property agent Benson Han — who is marketing the 12-year-old apartment which has an asking price of S$570,000 (RM1.7 million) — said the owner of the unit had Whatsapped to him the photos, including the offending one, during the Chinese New Year festivities.
"He had just done some spring cleaning, and I guess while he was cooling off, he decided it was a good time to take some better photos of the place," he said.
"Because (the photo) was so small, I didn't notice it," he added.
Netizens only took notice of the naked picture on March 6 despite the listings containing the latest set of photos being up for about a month.
Since the discovery, Han had informed the owner about the photos and had instructed his colleagues to take down the listing from property portals.
“He was shocked. It was clearly unintentional. Who on earth would post a naked photo?” he said.
His colleague Angeline Liang concurred that it was a mistake; both agents have never experienced something similar in their careers spanning 20 years and 10 years, respectively.
However, she noted that there were people circulating the picture for their own entertainment. “It’s not very nice to send such photos.”
