PETALING JAYA (Dec 27): The police will question former Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad over the RM270 million land deal at Jalan Semarak, which took place in 2015, during his tenure.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, according to the Malay Mail Online.

“We will call him as he is alleged to have vested interest in the investment process,” he said.

The police have already recorded statements from five witnesses, including those in Felda and the Land Office, and have acquired the necessary documents from the Company Commission of Malaysia.

Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad, the current chairman who succeeded Mohd Isa, had on Dec 12 lodged a police report over the land transfer.

The transfer entails a plot of land worth RM270 million at Jalan Semarak that had undergone a dubious change of ownership in 2014.

Malay daily Berita Harian quoted a source saying the transfer of ownership of the land was believed to have taken place when Felda’s investment arm, Felda Investment Corp, appointed a local company as its main developer in June 2014.

The local company was given full power of attorney to develop the land.

The parcel was earmarked for the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) development which will comprise seven towers, including Felda’s KLVC Tower1A.

The tower will have 59 floors of offices, a two-floor office podium with parking lots, a six-floor car park, a two-storey underground car park, a rooftop garden and a helipad.
