KUALA LUMPUR (July 29): Deloitte Malaysia said its office was not raided by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday morning as reported on various media outlets yesterday.

In a statement yesterday, Deloitte Malaysia clarified that it is not under investigation with respect to the Felda Investment Corp's (FIC) London hotel probe or any other matters.

The company said the visit from officers of the anti-graft body to its office at Menara LGB in Taman Tun Dr Ismail here was merely to seek information on the investigation.

"The MACC officers requested our assistance in providing information relating to their investigation, and we are cooperating fully with them at this time to provide all required support and information to assist the investigation," said Deloitte Malaysia country managing partner Tan Theng Hooi.

"As a responsible organisation, we will cooperate with the MACC and all other authorities in accordance with the provisions of the law," he added.

Yesterday, it was reported that four plainclothes MACC officers were seen entering the building at 10am to gather evidence and documents related to the ongoing FIC probe.

Press reporters and cameramen were at first allowed to wait on the 16th floor where Deloitte Malaysia's office was located, but about an hour into the raid, they were told to wait at the building's lobby instead.

On July 14, the MACC opened an investigation paper on FIC's questionable purchase of a hotel in London, estimated to have cost RM330 million in 2014. It was reported that the price paid for the hotel was too high and had caused FIC to incur huge losses. — theedgemarkets.com
