Last Feb 12, the Court of Appeal allowed Tengku Adnan's appeal for Mohd Nazlan to recuse himself from hearing the case and for the case to be transferred to another court, with the new judge to decide whether to start the case afresh or to continue from where Mohd Nazlan had left.

This follows Judicial Commissioner Datuk Ahmad Shahrir Mohd Salleh's ruling that the RM100,000 frozen in June 2018, six years and four months after the former minister received the money from the former prime minister, was mainly his pension.

In a brief judgement, the judge said that the charges brought against Ahmad are not groundless and have some merits.

“Therefore, the court rejects the application for this criminal application,” he said.
